Madie Maier received her Bachelor of Fine Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University from the Department of Craft and Materials Studies. She has exhibited work at Peters Valley School of Craft, Quirk Gallery, and in Ethical Metalsmith’s So Fresh + So Clean online exhibition. Focusing on jewelry, Maier makes nostalgic toy-like objects. By fabricating cages to entrap glass marbles she creates game-like experiences. In recent bodies, Maier blurs the lines between wearability and play by incorporating magnets in rings with the concept that there are endless ways to build and arrange wearables without finite instructions.
Maier has completed an assistantship and subsequent residency at Peters Valley School of Craft, as well as an artist residency at the Baltimore Jewelry Center.
